Secondly another reason America has been failing is because of the changing morals in the country. Morals are what drive a person they are the guidelines for a human being in their life. Morals are said to be a person’s standards or beliefs on concerning what is and what is not acceptable. The morals of our founding fathers were very strong and based on Christian beliefs which has kept it in check so far but the more we stray from the original plans for the government and our country the worse off we will be. After reading Martin Luther King Jr’s “Letter from Birmingham Jail”, I was intrigued by what he said. He said that there are two different kind of laws the moral laws and the unjust laws. I certainly agree and find that morals make or break a person. Finally since the government was founded upon Christian principles, one should look to the bible and what it has to say about government and such matters. The bible states that the government/the state is authority from God and he puts all leaders in their place himself. Second it states that the government has the right to collect taxes. And finally the last rule the bible says to follow is to punish those who do evil and praise those who do good. (Romans 13:3-4) We can combine that with what MLKJ said and see that if the country was to abolish unmoral laws such as allowing abortion and gay marriage then it would be fulfilling the rules of the bible.
